Explorer of Yggdrasil

 


Explorer of Yggdrasil is a pretty simple RPG eroge developed in Wolf RPG Engine.  From my limited understanding, Wolf RPG is like RPG Maker for more advanced developers.  I guess it has a steeper learning curve and can do more than RPG Maker, or something.  Regardless, the game is an RPG, with a basic story of exploring the tower with 100 floors.


You control Mei, who for no particular reason has amnesia, which isn't really explored too much in the game.  In the world there is a Tower of God, which everyone wants to explore, but it is managed by a syndicate that charges money to explore it.  It seems Mei managed to sneak in without paying, and finds a man being attacked by guards for not paying either.  Having no money herself, Mei pays the way any self respecting woman in an eroge would, by offering her body.  Essentially she still gets kicked out of the tower with the man she tried to save.  Together they are determined to get to the top and discover the secrets of the Tower.  

The gameplay is simple enough.  You explore, fight monsters, get loot.  Normal RPG stuff.  The battle is a little different though.  You only control Mei, and all battles are one-on-one.  Your only commands are Fight, Heal and Run.  When the enemy attacks, if you have a shield equipped a quick time event happens, and if you press the right key, the damage taken is reduced.  The Heal command is interesting.  Lore-wise, the potions heal very effectively, but they are made from pheromones, so it has a chance to make enemies horny.  You can adjust the percent chance of making the enemies horny.  When the enemy does get horny, he will immediately rape Mei, but in the process he will drop his weapon, so the rest of the battle, the enemy will do significantly less damage.  You get whatever the weapon was at the end of battle.  If you kill the enemy normally, you *might* get the weapon, but if they rape you, you *will* get the weapon.  This is actually a viable strategy.  If the enemy doesn't get horny, you just get healed normally.

The ero scenes are all voyeuristic in nature.  Before getting to the tower, Mei was a prostitute, and old habits apparently die hard.  Gilles, the man Mei saved at the start of the game, has a drone with him, which he uses to spy on Mei while she is with her clients.  Gilles is a very interesting character, and will narrate what he sees in pretty humorous ways.  Most of the sex scenes are relatively vanilla, but there are a few exceptions that get a little more extreme, but nothing too far out.  There is a tentacle scene that has an "all the way through" theme.  For the most part, the art is good, but there is something about the girls' faces that bother me.  I can't quite place what it is.  I think the heads are too big for the body?


  In the end, Explorer of Yggdrasil is a solid little H-RPG.  My save file had 7.5 hours after finishing it, and getting all the h-scenes, so its not overly long.  The game is pretty light-hearted, and the sex scenes can get a little humorous.  The art is good, but the faces still bother me, but not enough to detract too much from the enjoyment of the game.  I can definitely recommend this one.

  Similar to the previous eroge I reviewed, Sheryl is mostly light hearted, but has some pretty dark turns here and there.  Its an action-adventure game made in RPGMaker, so the combat is not exactly great, but simple enough to get by.  Its actually a pretty solid game. Sheryl is an alchemist in training, who is forced to pay the debts of her master, because her master is too lazy to do it herself.  As Sheryl explores the dungeon, a more sinister plot unfolds related to a dark cult trying to take over the world.  The plot doesn't exactly make sense. The cult has been around for centuries, and they want some symbols of power from the Fishmen, Halflings, and Elves, that you get with little to no problem, kind of makes you wonder what they were doing for all those years. Succubus Trap Island

  Succubus Trap Island is exactly what the title says. Its an Erotic Trap Dungeon style game, so the game focuses on traps and humiliation of the main heroine. I'm not entirely well-versed in the genre, but overall this one was pretty good. There's not a lot of plot to the game. Princess Marika and her guardian knight Leaf are on a survey cruise to a newly discovered island. The island is home to many succubi and demons. Demons are not necessarily evil in the game I guess, and succubi are more known for tricks and of course stealing life energy. Anyways, on the island, the succubi decide to capture Leaf, to basically publicly humiliate her sexually, and have Marika traverse the dungeons in order to save her. Except the succubi accidentally capture the princess instead, and the roles get flipped. Yagai Gakushuu

  Holy crap its not an RPG Maker game!  Yagai Gakushuu is a visual novel made using the KiriKiri engine.  I guess KiriKiri is like the Japanese equivalent to Renpy in that a lot of smaller comapnies, and indie groups make games with it.  I may get some flack for this game, since the MC is a shota, and a majority of the sex is lolicon.  As it is a visual novel, I won't really go into gameplay, because there basically isn't any aside from choosing where to go. So Takumi is the MC, and he's a quiet, shy, and reserved type.  He just got to a new school and doesn't have many friends.  Every year the school hosts a camping trip, and the class presidents asks Takumi to join since he's so introverted it, it may help him open up to his classmates.  So he goes, and finds out this camping trip is a little different.  At this camp, its customary to be completely naked for girls and boys to "learn" about each other.  Basically the game is just a stra...
