Selobus Fantasy

Selobus Fantasy is an RPG Maker eroge.  It follows the story of Yuni (blue haired girl) an adventurer who is invited to an island village with a newly discovered dungeon.  She teams up with Neige (white haired girl) another would-be adventurer and they delve into the dungeon.  The idea that the treasure would bring more people to the small island and put its name on the world map.  Strangely enough the dungeon is kind of put on the back burner for most of the game, as numerous roadblocks send the party off the island.  Eventually they meet Ion (pink haired girl), an elf magician, and the three go on to tackle the lower depths of the dungeon.


There are basically two schools of RPG Maker battle systems:  Tedious as hell, or easy as hell.  There is very few that actually manage to fall into an almost nonexistent third category of actually being fun.  Unfortunately, Selobus Fantasy falls into the easy as hell category.  The characters do have skills and magic, but I found it faster to just hold down enter which basically fast forwards and while spamming normal attack.  Battles are a breeze with the exception of a few boss fights.  Thankfully, the battles aren't too frequent, so they don't feel as tedious as they could be for being so easy.

For an RPG Maker eroge, Selobus Fantasy has a pretty slow start.  In the beginning theres only a few groping and peeping scenes, but there are no sex scenes until about 3-4 hours in.  However the characters more than make up for it.  I found myself trying to avoid sex scenes in a way to protect the characters since 95% of the scenes are non-con.  Most scenes are avoidable, and/or miss-able. Theres also a corruption-type statistic for each of the three characters, and certain scenes will only happen if corruption is low enough, Unfortunately there is an unavoidable rape/coercion/blackmail scenario in the post game, and it kind of felt out of place in an otherwise lighthearted role playing game.  Upon completion of the game, all scenes are unlocked in the gallery.

The comedy of the game is very slapstick, with Yuni playing the straight-man to Neige's funny man.  Secondary characters are usually there to augment Yuni's role.  I'm not a big fan of slapstick, but the characters stick to their roles very well, and the dynamic is very fun and lighthearted.

The biggest criticism I have for the game is the inability to go back to certain areas.  If you find your way through a dungeon without getting all the items, you can not go back to the dungeon to get them later.  Theres a whole city that had a few sidequests that I was not able to complete at the time, and I could not go back to the city to finish them later.

Overall, Selobus Fantasy is a must play for fans of RPG Maker eroge.  Its definitely one of the best I have played.  It is on the longer side, it took me about 18 hours to finish the game.  

There is an all-ages version of the game, and while I do believe most of the sex scenes actually detract from the game, I can't really recommend playing the all-ages version.  For unknown reasons the all-ages version completely removes all character portraits, so you're left with a blank canvas of a game.

  Similar to the previous eroge I reviewed, Sheryl is mostly light hearted, but has some pretty dark turns here and there.  Its an action-adventure game made in RPGMaker, so the combat is not exactly great, but simple enough to get by.  Its actually a pretty solid game. Sheryl is an alchemist in training, who is forced to pay the debts of her master, because her master is too lazy to do it herself.  As Sheryl explores the dungeon, a more sinister plot unfolds related to a dark cult trying to take over the world.  The plot doesn't exactly make sense. The cult has been around for centuries, and they want some symbols of power from the Fishmen, Halflings, and Elves, that you get with little to no problem, kind of makes you wonder what they were doing for all those years. Succubus Trap Island

  Succubus Trap Island is exactly what the title says. Its an Erotic Trap Dungeon style game, so the game focuses on traps and humiliation of the main heroine. I'm not entirely well-versed in the genre, but overall this one was pretty good. There's not a lot of plot to the game. Princess Marika and her guardian knight Leaf are on a survey cruise to a newly discovered island. The island is home to many succubi and demons. Demons are not necessarily evil in the game I guess, and succubi are more known for tricks and of course stealing life energy. Anyways, on the island, the succubi decide to capture Leaf, to basically publicly humiliate her sexually, and have Marika traverse the dungeons in order to save her. Except the succubi accidentally capture the princess instead, and the roles get flipped. The Alcummy of Amelie

  The Alcummy of Amelie is a fairly lighthearted/silly RPG Maker eroge.  Theres a few things that make it stand out, but the overall game is pretty standard issue RPGMaker faire. Amelie is an alchemist, she gets wrongfully accused of murder and gets thrown in prison.  While in prison she is saved by a succubus that is also in prison, and basically end up having to help the succubus with whatever her intentions are, which of course means getting lots and lots of semen for her magic/alchemy. Theres a handful of dungeons in the game, where you have to gather ingredients for alchemy.  Certain monsters drop an item that you can offer up to the succubus statue which will give you a skill that sends that enemy into heat, effectively letting you skip battles by getting raped by the monster instead.  Battles are typical RPGMaker stuff.  There is clothing damage you get down to 50% hp and another around 25%.  You can wear different costumes, and each costume has...
